Benfica's volleyball team is in the lead in the eighth-finals of the Challenge Cup after beating, this Tuesday, Zalau, at Pavilion n.º 2 of Luz, by 3-0, in the game from the first leg.

Game highlights

The 1st set of the game started balanced, but, due to the efficiency in the serve and the attack in the central zone of the net, Benfica ended up winning the opening set by 25-21.

In the 2nd set, Benfica had a harder time. Zalau was in front by 11-13 at a certain moment, forcing Marcel Matz to ask for a time-out. The set was very balanced until the end, but the home team managed to win the set by 26-24.

Like the previous ones, the 3rd set was also very balanced at the start. The home team got in front at 10 points. Zalau took the lead when the score at 14-15. But it did not last long, and Benfica got in front again and closed the set in 25-20 and the game in 3-0.

Starting lineup: Theo Lopes, André Lopes, Tiago Violas, Rapha, Peter, Honoré and Ivo Casas (L).

The second leg of the Challenge Cup eighth-finals will be played at Zalau's home ground, Sala Sporturilor "Gheorghe Tadici", on January 16, 2019.
