🎥 Welcome, Chiquinho!

With a contract valid until 2024, Chiquinho is a summer signing of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. In a day that was marked by the start of the 2019/20 pre-season, the 23-year-old Portuguese midfielder promises “a lot of dedication and hard work”.

“No doubt it is a very great emotion because during the year it was a goal that I set for myself, to do a good season to come back to this club, and I'm very pleased to be back”, he confessed to BTV.

Chiquinho is aware of the pressure it is to wear the jersey of the National Champion.

“It's a very demanding challenge. Benfica fights for all the titles and expectations are high. I'll fight every day for my space in the team”, he assured, continuing: “We are talking about Benfica. The name says it all, and there is no doubt that there is a greater pressure, but with hard work and commitment I believe that thing will go well.”

The Portuguese player confesses to being “motivated to work with the gaffer ” Bruno Lage.

“The decision [about either I fit the team or not] is up to the gaffer. I'm here for whatever he decides. I'll always do my best and I believe the gaffer will choose the best for me”, claimed the attacking midfielder.

Chiquinho leaves a promise to the Benfica supporters: “A lot of dedication, a lot of hard work, 200% professional and fight for all the titles. The maximum demand in each training session and in each match. If we are talking about Benfica, the demand always has to be at the maximum. That's what I'm here for: to work and to give my best.”
