Man of the Match

Benfica hosted and beat (5-0), at Estádio da Luz, Paços de Ferreira in the opening round of the Liga NOS. The midfielder Pizzi contributed with two goals and one assist and was named the Man of the Match in a game in which he reached the milestone of 50 goals with an eagle on his chest.

“It was a good match, we faced a team with a very positive football, that always wants to play and the is something worth praising in the 1^st Division. I think that we have put in a good performance, we scored a lot of goals and from the first minute we showed that we're here to make a great Championship. The whole team is to be congratulated”, claimed Pizzi, in statements to BTV.

Despite the individual distinction, the Portuguese international highlighted the collective work in the rout in the 2019/20 Liga NOS debut: “It's obviously a great joy for a player to receive this trophy on an individual level, but I think the most important thing is the work of the entire team. From the first moment we entered strong, determined, with the will to win and ended up clinching another win. We were clearly superior and that was demonstrated in the final score.”
