He started the game on the bench, but he came on to replace Jota at 66’ for what would be his Champions League debut and his first time with Benfica's first team jersey. “I'm just another one to help the team”, pointed out David Tavares.  

“I've been looking forward to this moment for a long time, it's every player's dream, especially for a youngster like me. Of course I'd prefer to seal my debut with a win, but now we have to raise our heads and think about the next game”, he analyzed at the end of the match in which the Reds lost (1-2) against RB Leipzig.

“We had opportunities to win the match, but it didn't go the way we wanted. The Champions League is decided in the details”, he stressed.
