One of the six academy graduates that played as starters against V. Guimarães in the start of the League Cup campaign, Ivan Zlobin made his first official match with Benfica's first team.
At the age of 22, the Russian-born goalkeeper, who has been wearing the Sacred Mantle since 2015 (began in the U-19s), lived a moment that he will remember forever. "To make my debut with the first team is a dream come true, but the most important was the team. We want to win every match", claimed Zlobin in the mixed zone of Estádio da Luz.
"Our team played well, my teammates ran a lot, we did everything according to plan", analyzed the goal stopper.
"My goal is to work day by day, game by game. On Saturday we have one more game [at Estádio da Luz], against V. Setúbal, and we will prepare for it", said Zlobin, who has the former benfiquista Oblak as an idol. "He's an excellent goalkeeper, a good example to me", said the Eagles' number 72.
