Carlos del Cerro Grande, from Spain, was appointed by the UEFA's Refereeing Committee to whistle the Zenit-Benfica match on matchday 2 of the Group G of the Champions League. The match is scheduled for 8:00 pm on Wednesday (October 2) at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.

In Wednesday's Zenit-Benfica match, Carlos del Cerro Grande will have Juan Carlos Yuste and Roberto Alonso as assistants and Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez will be the 4th referee. The video-referee (VAR) will be José María Sánchez and the assistant (AVAR) will be Juan Martínez Munuera.
