Portuguese Cup closes the year at Luz

The match between Benfica and SC Braga, for the last 16 of the Portuguese Cup (Wednesday at 8:45), is the last game at Estádio da Luz in the calendar year 2019. The Official Website brings you numbers that impress and that also helped win the 37^th League Title!

The year 2019 is divided into two seasons – 2018/19 and 2019/20 –, and it was with the 43-year-old manager at the helm that Benfica carried out all the 26 home matches.

BENFICA AT LUZ IN 2019

The 26 official matches at Estádio da Luz in 2019 resulted in 21 wins (81% winning percentage), three draws and just two losses. In this journey, Benfica scored 82 goals (an average of 3,15 per match) and conceded 17 (0,65 per match). The 11 routs carried out by the team, one of them the thrashing of 10-0, helped to achieve these figures.

Superlative in the Championship

In the Liga NOS, in 2019, the Reds played 18 matches and won 16. They only conceded a draw (2-2, against Belenenses SAD) and one loss (0-2, against FC Porto). In the UEFA competitions – Champions League and Europa League–, Benfica finishes the year with six matches, four triumphs, one draw and one loss.

AT LUZ IN 2019 BY COMPETITION

The 2019 curtain in the Cathedral falls on the evening of December 18, curiously against the same opponent with whom they finished 2018 (a 6-2 win). The match against SC Braga, scheduled for 8:45 pm, will be the 6^th encounter between the two teams in Lisbon for the Portuguese Cup. The last encounter was in 2014/15 and the eagles lost by 1-2.
