Sport Lisboa e Benfica has formalized with Tottenham an agreement for the loan of Gedson Fernandes. The loan of the midfielder to the English club is contractually valid for 18 months.

Promoted to Benfica's first team in 2018/19, Gedson, a talent 100% Made in Benfica Campus, confirmed his credentials in the first pre-season friendlies. Since then he has carried out 59 official matches and scored three goals.

At the highest level, the official debut with the Sacred Mantle took place on August 7, 2018, when Benfica hosted Fenerbahçe in the first leg of the 3rd  qualifying round of the Champions League.

Gedson scored his first goal in Istanbul, in the second leg of the 3rd qualifying round against Fenerbahçe, on August 14, 2018.

At Benfica since 2009, Gedson, currently aged 21, rose through the ranks at the Club. National Champion in all categories, he was also U-17 European Champion, U-19 European runners-up and participated in the U-20 World Cups (2017 and 2019). He made his senior debut with Portugal on September 6, 2018, in a friendly match against Croatia at Estádio Algarve.
