Bruno Lage has previewed, in Press Conference, the clash between Benfica and Belenenses SAD, in Matchday 19 of the Liga NOS.
Did you already notice, in the two matches with Petit as coach, some differences in Belenenses SAD?
There’s a difference in the system. They play with five defenders. They’re consistent in what they do. They have quality forwards… Varela, Marco Matias, who I know very well, André Santos in the midfield… They’re experienced men, playing from the inside or the outside, playing widely and with a system which forces us to have different offensive and defensive dynamics. Belenenses SAD will cause us many trouble and we have to be highly motivated to perform well, to start strong like we did in the last two matches against Paços de Ferreira and Sporting.
At the end of the last match you said you were waiting a reaction from FC Porto [after the loss in the League Cup] on the following match. Was the win over Gil Vicente that reaction? Should also Benfica give a proper response against Belenenses SAD?
This is not talking FC Porto specifically, but any team with such a dimension must react on the following game, no matter what was the previous result. Good moments are all about sticking good games to what happened before. We’re talking about a moment not so good, but after that there is a good game, and another, and another… That’s what we want to do tomorrow [Friday]: to stick another good moment to those we bring from the past.
