"Never give up, never bow down, to win at the end"

It was with a clear and ambitious message that Luís Filipe Vieira addressed this evening the nominees for the Cosme Damião Awards.

It's a moment that repeats itself year after year, loaded with Mystic and Symbolism! The nominees for the Cosme Damião Awards, a distinction that is given to those who stood out at the Benfica in 2019, have been announced, and are already up for voting. A unique moment in the 116^th-anniversary celebrations of Sport Lisboa e Lisboa.

"The Cosme Damião Awards represent the recognition and tribute that Sport Lisboa e Benfica pays annually to those who are most distinguished and contribute to honor and enhance the name of our club. Your presence here today has a significance. It is proof that, in some way, each one of you has contributed to value the history of Benfica", highlighted the President of SL Benfica.

"Speaking about the football team. Six points lost in the last two matches. A seven-point difference that turned into just one. That will not change us. Our determination remains untouched. We remain at the top of the League and we are aware that all patches have up and downs. I believe that this poor phase will be followed by a journey that will culminate, twice, in Marquês de Pombal", he claimed.

"We didn't get into euphoria before, and we don't get into depression now. Nothing was won, nothing is lost. It is important to remain together. Join forces. Continue to support players and coaching staff to overcome the difficulties that arise. With determination and will. This is our DNA. Never give up, never bow down, to win in the end", stressed Luís Filipe Vieira. 

Voting is open and the winners will be revealed on March 4, at the Gala do 116th-Anniversary of SL Benfica Gala, which will take place at Campo Pequeno, in Lisbon.
