Zezinho, the Benfica esports player, was called up for the Brazilian national team for the first time and qualified to represent his country in the FIFA eNations StayAndPlay Cup. The tournament aims to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The choice of the representative of Brazil in the virtual competition was made in stages. First was formed an esports team composed of the eight best-ranked Brazilian players. Then they faced each other in a qualifying stage, and the Benfica player, 2nd in the world ranking and best Brazilian player, beat all his compatriots, securing a passport to the competition.

The FIFA eNations StayAndPlay Cup kicks off on April 22 and will have the presence of several federations worldwide, which will participate with mixed teams consisting of a professional football player and a virtual football player.
