Luís Filipe Vieira: "We will be together again"

In a letter sent to all the Members of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, President Luís Filipe Vieira addressed a message of hope, solidarity and gratitude in this sensitive phase that Portugal and the world are living because of the new coronavirus pandemic.

"From the outset, Benfica has associated itself with all the measures and initiatives suggested by official entities and has made itself available to help fight this pandemic to the extent of its resources and capabilities. Like all areas of society and the economy, Benfica, our club, has been seriously affected in its normal and daily activities. We suspended all the sporting activities and we have adopted all the measures recommended by the health authorities to protect workers, athletes and all those who contribute daily basis with talent and dedication to keep this club at the level of its history, its values and the ambition of its members", mentioned the President.

"The message I want to leave you is that, despite all the difficulties we have experienced, Benfica is and will always be available, as is its timbre, to maintain a strong link with all members and supporters. Count on us, contact us, and we will be here, within our possibilities, to help you get through this difficult phase. We are here, and we will continue to be here, at the service of the Club because we want, in these difficult times for everyone, to strengthen our connection with the members, who are the soul of this Club", stressed Luís Filipe Vieira.

"The results of the work carried out over these years allow us to face the difficulties that await us with confidence, security, determination, and hope. We've proven that in the past, we will do it in the future. We all dream of a return to normality, to the thrill of goals, or to the reunion of that unique feeling that sets us apart. I am sure that soon we will be close again, filling stadiums and pavilions, vibrating with the work of our teams and athletes and feeling the benfiquista soul and our mystique. We will soon celebrate again at Marquês", foresaw Luís Filipe Vieira.

"On behalf of Benfica, I leave a vow of health and solidarity to all the benfiquista families and to all the Portuguese families. As I said, and I repeat, in this battle we are facing, there is only one club and there is only one plan, to take care of each other and safeguard human lives. Together, we will succeed", finished President Luís Filipe Vieira.
