At the national level, the Benfica Group was one of the first entities to ally itself as a social partner in the fight against COVID-19, manifesting from the outset its prompt support and collaboration with the National Health Service, being ready to strengthen its capacity. 

Proof of this was the donation of more than 1 million euros, by purchasing 1 million disposable surgical masks, 173 500 FFP protective masks, 9005 FFP2 protective masks with respirator, 1.8 million pairs of disposable gloves, 2620 goggles, 2620 protective suits, 778 infrared thermometers, and 2 ventilators.

Never indifferent to this situation that prevails in Portugal, the initiatives to help and assist those in the front line to face this pandemic remain.

More than ever, it is important for there to be continuous unanimous cooperation from everyone, including citizens and organizations.

Carlos José Dias Costa is 85 years old and lives in Porto. One day, after hearing Bruno Lage in a post-match press conference, he was moved and decided to send a letter to the Benfica coach. In addition to being a member of Benfica, Dias Costa is a BTV subscriber and has a profound knowledge of the work of the Benfica Foundation. He buys the O Benfica newspaper every Friday. Unfortunately, he can no longer read. He has a glaucoma, which limits his vision, and so he asks his wife (Mrs. Lucília) to read him the newspaper from the first to the last page. His father was once Benfica's treasurer and he was friends with... Aliu Camará is 24 years old and he is from Amadora. He took part in a Benfica Foundation project – in 2010 and 2011 – and would later join the Special Forces and finished the course in 2016. He suffered a serious accident in his last mission in the Central African Republic last year and had to amputate both legs. Wolfgang Köhler lives in Germany, in Bischofsheim in der Rhön (Baviera) where he is connected to a football project for kids. He is a Benfica fan and loves Julian Weigl and had the expectation to meet his idol when he was in Portugal, a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it was not possible, but the dream will not stand still.
