Women's football
25 June 2020, 14h06
After a season marked by winning the first Portuguese Super Cup and after dominating the Liga BPI and remaining in the race to win all domestic competitions, Benfica footballers have been on early holidays and are now gearing up for the official start of the 2020/21 pre-season.
The vice-president of SL Benfica Fernando Tavares will soon be at BTV to frame the challenges and ambitions of the senior team and the whole area of our women’s youth development. Carlota Cristo (22-year-old, forward) and Carolina Vilão (19-year-old, goalkeeper) [in the above picture] will return to the club after a loan spell at Valadares Gaia.
Giving natural sequence to the line defined since the creation of the women's football team at the Club almost two years ago will continue the bet on academy players with great potential. In this sense, two more Under-19s are now regularly part of the training sessions of the senior squad: Francisca Nazareth and Mariana Alberto.
