The Portuguese Football Federation made official on Wednesday the date of the final of the 2020/21 Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup.

The clash between Benfica and FC Porto is scheduled for December 23 (Wednesday). 

"The date of the Cândido de Oliveira Vodafone Super Cup was articulated between FPF, FC Porto and  SL Benfica. FPF, FC Porto and SL Benfica settled this date to compete for this trophy that traditionally marks the official start of the season, but but by agreement between the Federation and the Clubs it was postponed to to ease the schedule and thus safeguard the interests of the Portuguese teams involved in UEFA competitions", explains the Federation n the note issued on its official website

The place and time of the match "will be announced in due course".

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
