STATEMENT WITH BTV

Sport Lisboa e Benfica secured the signing of Gilberto, the 27-year-old right-back that represented Fluminense. The Brazilian player, who penned a contract until 2025, bolsters the professional football squad under coach Jorge Jesus.

"I'm very grateful and excited to give my best, to make a great season", claimed the right-back in his first official statements after signing the contract.

"Benfica is a giant of Europe, of the world, I am very happy to wear this jersey. I hope to show all my value on the pitch because it is a club with a lot of history. I am sure this year will be very good for us", revealed Gilberto to BTV.

At the age of 27, Gilberto returns to European football. The first experience in the Old Continent took place in Italy.
