STATEMENTS

Benfica beat Bournemouth by 2-1 at Estádio da Luz. Everton, one of the signings for the next season scored a stunning goal, sealing the red win – the fifth in five friendly matches.

"To play here is a dream come true. A stage of the world’s football and all athletes wish to play here. Unfortunately, the supporters couldn’t be present, but we’ll have a completely different atmosphere when the Estádio da Luz is full, which will help us to achieve our goals during the season", said Everton, to BTV.

During the match, the reds always played a very high line, putting the opponent under pressure.

"The coach’s plan is working. We did what he has been asking us during these weeks. We played five friendly matches and I think we managed to put into work the coach's ideas", explained Everton.

Trained at Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Renato Sanches returned home in August 2024, on a one-year loan from PSG. Throughout the 2024/25 season, the midfielder made in Benfica played in 21 games and scored 1 goal, making a significant contribution to the club's 8th League Cup victory. SL Benfica wishes Renato Sanches all the best.
