Benfica's first win in the 2020/21 Liga NOS (1-5 away at Famalicão) started in the left of Waldschmidt, he who would score a brace. In an exclusive interview with BPlay, which you can watch HERE, the new signing has acknowledged the "great honor" he feels for wearing the Sacred Mantle.
Decisive meeting in Germany to become an eagle
"It's a great honor to be here, to sign for this great club and I'm very happy that everything went well. I remember that day, of course. It was a special day for me. The first time I spoke with Rui Costa and Tiago Pinto was the most important day for me. We instantly had a good connection and that was the decisive day."
Waldschmidt seen by Waldschmidt
"I like to play offensive football, score goals, provide assists, find solutions. I love to play football and I like to show that on the pitch. Maybe the fans can see that and enjoy it as much as I do."
Passion for football
"I just wanted to play football, to give my best. At 16, 17 years of age, of course, I saw the Bundesliga and national teams from Germany several times. I dreamed of the big clubs. For me, it was always a distant reality, something from another world or something. I simply played football. When I started to approach the professional level, it all happened very fast for me."
