Jorge Jesus: "Throughout the rounds we will be stronger"

Sport Lisboa e Benfica, leader of the Liga NOS, with a 100 % winning record, hosts Belenenses SAD on matchday 5, Monday, at 8:15 pm, at Estádio da Luz. In a press conference at the Benfica Campus  coach Jorge Jesus launched the match.

What do you fear most from this Belenenses SAD coached by Petit?

Belenenses SAD is a very well organized team, which plays in 3x4x3 offensively and in 4x5x1 defensively. It is not easy to score goals against Belenenses, so far they have only conceded two goals. Petit is a good coach. He is a former player and has the advantage of being able to look at the game in another way. It will be an extremely difficult match.

You have said that this Benfica team will grow even more. What aspects would you like to see evolved in the next match?

It is natural that all the teams, throughout the rounds, are stronger. Benfica is no different. Throughout the rounds we will be stronger, being that in one game or another it is normal that we may not be so well, but that is what we work for every day. The results are proof of this. The defensive issues are a point that I discuss a lot with my players and my coaching staff. For me, it's as important not to concede goals as to score them. We are working on this aspect.

Did you have influence on Taarabt's contract renewal?

I'm glad Adel [Taarabt] extended his contract. He is a player with different characteristics for a second midfielder. He is a box to box, he has a very evolved technical capacity and I am very pleased with his renewal. He has already played 60 minutes of good quality in Poland and tomorrow [Monday] he will play for sure.
