Benfica lost 1-2 against Gil Vicente, in Matchday 27 of the Liga NOS. Otamendi analized what went wrong and deixou uma garantia.

"The first half was a little uncomfortable for us and they defended well. We circulated the ball, tried to find the way, but we couldn’t get in. On the second half we started with a different mindset and speed. We missed the chances, but we got to keep working", said the defender.

Otamendi almost scored the equalizer in the added time (90'+6').

"We have more games to play and from tomorrow on [Sunday] we have to think about the next matches and the three points. Our mentality is, until the end, to get as much points as possible", he ended.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
