The Cosme Damião awards that distinguish those who stand out the most in the universe of the Club, in this case relative to 2020, will be delivered during the broadcast of BTV (BEN10), starting this Monday, from May 10 to 16, with dissemination on the Official Site and social networks of SL Benfica.

  • May 11 (Tuesday) | Awards from the sphere of other sports. Categories: Sport of the Year, High-performance Athlete;

  • May 12 (Wednesday) | Category: Coach of the Year;

  • May 13 (Thursday) | Corporate Awards. Categories: Innovation, Partner of the Year, Project of the Year;

  • May 14 (Friday) | Category: Footballer of the Year;

  • May 15 (Saturday) | Casas do Benfica;

  • May 16 (Sunday) | Awards granted by the President. Categories: Career, Merit and Dedication, Tribute.

Footballer of the Year Award | Weigl

On January 2, 2020, Julian Weigl was presented as a new signing of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. "We were completely sure of the quality of this player and the human quality of the person. After one year, it gives me great pleasure to present him with this award. Time has proven us right", claimed the Club's vice president and administrator of Benfica SAD, Rui Costa. Last season he played 21 matches and scored a goal, which has now earned Weigl the Cosme Damião Award in the Footballer of the Year category. "It is a very special moment. I'm very happy supporters voted for me, it's a great award", thanked the German international.

Football Revelation Award | Diogo Gonçalves

Diogo Gonçalves is the winner of the Cosme Damião Award in the Football Revelation category, an award he received from the hands of Rui Costa, vice-president for football and administrator of Benfica SAD. "It is a very special award within the Club because, deep down, it is the hope of a career. It is a source of pride for the player, but also for us because we have these athletes who inspire us with hope for tomorrow. When this award is given to players nurtured at the club it is even more special", confessed Rui Costa. "It is an immense pride to receive this award in my beloved club. The next step is to work towards receiving the next one", promised Diogo Gonçalves in statements with  BTV.
