The women's national football team finished their tour of the United States of America with a draw (3-3) against Nigeria. The match took place at the BBVA Compass Stadium, in Houston, in the early hours of this Monday, and Carole Costa, Benfica's central defender, scored a goal in the 34th minute.

The national coach, Francisco Neto, fielded four benfiquistas in the starting lineup: Catarina Amado and Carole Costa played 90 minutes, Andreia Faria came off at 57' and Kika Nazareth at 81'. Substitutes, Sílvia Rebelo, Beatriz Cameirão and Lúcia Alves did not play.

Benfica fought until the end for a different outcome in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, but after extra time they fell to Chelsea (1-4), thus ending their journey in the first edition of the competition in the United States of America. In a game that was interrupted in the 86th minute due to the threat of a thunderstorm and ended almost five hours after the kick-off, Di María leveled the score at 90'+5' (1-1), taking the match into 30 minutes of extra time, during which time the result hung in the balance for the English at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
