With Nicolás Otamendi, SL Benfica's center back, blocking the way towards the "Albiceleste" goal, Argentina won 1-0 ( goal from Guido Rodríguez at 13') against Uruguay on matchday 2 of group A at Copa America, early this morning, June 19, in Brazil. 

Imposing quality, experience, and fighting spirit against the offensive actions of the Uruguayan team (which used the Suarez-Cavani partnership in the attack), Otamendi won two ground duels (100%) and three aerial duels (75%). In addition, he made three tackles and three interceptions, and also showed high accuracy in his passes (93%), as attested by the statistical data collected by the Sofascore platform.

Liga BPI | Cristina Prieto receives trophy for Best Player

Elected Best Player of the Liga BPI 2024/25 in the vote organized by the Players' Union, Cristina Prieto, Benfica's women's football team, received the trophy at Benfica Campus. Grateful for the distinction, the Spanish international told BTV about her “good season” and didn't forget the rest of the Reds' players. "It's an individual award and I couldn't have won it without my teammates. It was the team that made me win this award," said the goalscorer, who is in her first season at the club. "You never think the first year will be like this. I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and the Benfiquistas. It's an award that shows that the season went well," said Cristina Prieto, an important element in winning the Fifth League Title in a row.
