The origin of the bow
At Sport Lisboa e Benfica, the fans’ bow is a tradition which has its roots in the Summer of 1970, and it persists. In a journey to Far East, the reds beat Japan by 4-1, and, after the final whistle, the Princes of Japan broke the protocol and entered the pitch to salute the players. Back to Portugal, and with the ban of Estádio da Luz, it was at Jamor, against CUF, that Benfica players thanked the fans with a bow for the first time.
Taarabt "very happy" for the 100 matches with Benfica
Taarabt entered at 84' in the match against Vizela (0-1) and reached an important milestone with the eagles on his chest. "I’m very happy for the 100 matches with this jersey. Thanks for your support!", shared the Moroccan international.
Happy birthday, Cathedral!
Inaugurated on October 25, 2003, the Estádio da Luz celebrates another anniversary this Monday. It's been 18 years of existence, of much emotion, histories and stories, victories, conquests, joys and sometimes even tears... it is really like that when it is from the soul, with heart, commitment and passion, because only we feel that way! The home of all Benfiquistas, a temple, a magical place, our Cathedral is to be congratulated. Many more to come!
