Proof of that was the participation in one of the most prestigious tournaments in China which, under the organization of the Chinese Football Association (CFA), brought together teams from several Chinese County FAs, in the city of Bei Bei.
With the guidance of Fernando Costa, coordinator of SLB, the CQFA team, consisting of athletes born in 2009, achieved the best result ever in the tournament, a 3rd place among 16 teams (14 Associations and 2 Clubs).
But more than results, it is important to praise the brave and intense way in which “our” athletes face every game, showing great football quality. This attitude, together with a strategy that is not focused on the immediate result of a game or tournament but on the player's development, was widely recognized and even used as an example, by several members of the Chinese Football Federation, in forums that took place throughout the tournament.
Sport Lisboa e Benfica is very proud on its relationship with CQFA and is looking forward to keep participating in the development of young footballers from that region.
