João Mário highlighted the importance of Benfica's 2-1 victory against PSV, in the first leg of the Champions League play-off, and praised the eagles' performance.

"It was important to win today, we know that away goals no longer count [double, in case of a draw]. We started well, managed to extend the lead to 2-0, unfortunately, we conceded a goal, but the team should be congratulated because they worked hard and played a good game."

"We must give them credit, PSV is a great team, the progress they have made is impressive, it only highlights what our victory was today. I'm not saying that we broke down physically, the opponent plays very well, they have good ball possession, but we were already prepared for that."

"We bet a lot on the counter-attack, in one or another counter-attack we could have done better and increased the result, but we have the second match and we are confident. We will do everything to be in the Champions League."
