Benfica Futsal Program starts in 2021

Sport Lisboa e Benfica was chosen by the PROPLAYER group to develop a set of training programs in the futsal area, entitled "Benfica Futsal Program", to start in 2021.

Six programs will be launched, starting right away with the training of coaches, focusing on the theme "Coaching Education". The first online workshops will be held; the master classes, interactive online courses taught by members of the Benfica senior futsal team, with exclusive guests and content; the coaching courses, with four levels of on-site courses that can be delivered in Portugal or in any other country. 

"This is a strategic partnership in the area of futsal development and its internationalization, similar to what the club is already doing in 11-a-side football by opening academies and offering online and on-site training. We will now do it in futsal. Benfica is one of the few brands in the top 8 of world futsal that can and is able to ensure this development. This project is also a unique opportunity in countries where futsal is less developed, it is an extraordinary opportunity to develop the Benfica brand in commercial and marketing terms. Players and coaches are great ambassadors for this project. Everyone should contribute with lectures", mentioned Fernando Tavares in the project presentation.

"The Benfica Futsal Program has in its genesis Benfica's professional futsal, which wants to go international, and we will be the partner, we will start in the UK, but we will go to other countries. It's a very comprehensive, ambitious and very big project. What makes it very attractive is Benfica, a brand known worldwide, very strong, that fights to win in all the sports in which it competes", stressed Nuno Azevedo Cardoso, the CEO of PROPLAYER. 

"Portugal can provide a lot of training and competence. Training is the best that is done in the world, this program is a good thing, because it helps to make us all more capable", stated the goalkeeper André Sousa.

"Benfica has all the structure to expand its brand, to contribute a lot to futsal", claimed Robinho, Benfica's futsal team captain.

In this scope, the "College Program" will be launched, which aims to establish partnerships with colleges in the UK to develop the sport, enhance options and educational paths for students aged 16 to 19 years, also introducing Benfica to local communities. Opening SL Benfica Futsal Academies franchises in some countries with the Club's unique methodology is another premise.
