In this edition of the Portuguese Cup, the Eagles saw off Trofense (1-2, aet) and Paços de Ferreira (4-1). FC Porto eliminated Sintrense (0-5) and Feirense (5-1).
Officially, Benfica and FC Porto have face each other 247 times in all competitions. In the Portuguese Cup there have been 36 clashes– 10 of those in finals –, and the reds won 21 matches (58%) and lost ten (28%). The two teams drew in five occasions.
The round of 16 matches in the Portuguese Cup are scheduled for December 21, 22, and 23.
