Tiago Gouveia, the Benfica B forward, received this Wednesday, April 27, the March Liga 2 Goal of the Month award. The fantastic finishing of the number 47 in the triumph of the young eagles in Coimbra, against Académica on matchday 26, was the most voted by fans.

"It is an individual award and individual awards are always good, but this award would mean even more if it was accompanied by the team's performance. In the last few games it hasn't been easy. I would rather be fighting for the [Liga 2] title than have this award. Of course it is good to have this award for the individual ego, in a good way, a good goal, but if it is not accompanied by the team's performance it does not have the same meaning", he said in statements to BTV. 

Tiago Gouveia's stunner was the most voted, beatting the goals scored by Godwin (Casa Pia), Tipote (Estrela da Amadora), Miguel Bandarra and Mayambela (Farense), Pedro Mendes (Rio Ave) and Wellington (Chaves).

Telma Monteiro's donation to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião

An icon of Benfica and Portuguese judo, Telma Monteiro donated the kimono she wore in her last competition for the club, specifically the National Club Championship in October 2024, which earned her the women's title, to the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião. The judoka also donated the belt she wore during her last Olympic cycle. “It's the place where it makes the most sense to stay, leaving a little of my legacy, preserving my history with Benfica,” said Telma Monteiro.

An unforgettable Children's Day

This Tuesday, May 27, the Benfica Foundation and Sport Lisboa e Benfica marked World Children's Day with the participation of more than 1,500 young people.  Between the Estádio da Luz pitch and the pavilions, there were fun, educational and sporting activities, with the contribution of the various sports and the partners of the Club and the Foundation. Lively, with everything designed to stimulate the children and provide them with different experiences, this was a “very special” moment, as Jorge Miranda, director of the Foundation, told BTV. "We couldn't miss the opportunity to have an unforgettable day," he said. Representing the Almeirim Karting Circuit, Tiago Evaristo stressed the importance of “road education”. Benfica-Sporting: extended match highlights

In a match in which they had a penalty and a goal in their favor (it would have been 2-0...) reversed by the VAR, and also saw the post deny them a goal (Pavlidis' shot) and were hindered by the refereeing in relevant plays, Benfica conceded the equalizer (1-1) in the 11th minute (!) of stoppage time (90'+11'). Then, in extra time, they lost (1-3) the Portuguese Cup final against Sporting on Sunday afternoon, May 25, at the Estádio Nacional in Jamor.
