"Your victory is important because you are the diversity. The story was told by men, but the great women who are also write it. You are pioneers, pioneers of a generation that is going to change everything. You are taking football to another level. In a few years women's football will be much bigger. I am very happy and excited to be here with you", claimed Carlos Moedas.
"It is a project with four years and since we reached the First Division we have won all the Championships, three have passed, two of them were accomplished with this second consecutive league title, the third one unfortunately escaped us due to COVID-19, when we were in first place and ended up not being able to finish the Championship", he said.
Rui Costa highlighted the importance that the Club has given to women's sports. "This celebration is the fruit of the work we have been developing in women's sports. I am very proud to be the President of the only Portuguese Club that has the six major women's sports", he said, listing football, futsal, basketball, handball, roller field hockey, volleyball and without forgetting other sports that are part of the Olympic Project or water polo and rugby, among others, in which Benfica "intends to grow more and more in gender equality".
The red players, led by captain Silvia Rebelo, then displayed the trophy on the balcony before the fans present, an opportunity for the center-back, in statements to BTV, express the joy of the moment. "This title is special! Benfica deserves it. We want to continue giving joy to our fans. Football is evolving. I won't reach the high point of women's football, but it's gratifying to be a pioneer", she revealed, while Jéssica Silva said: "It is a very special moment, we really deserved this. I came to Benfica and was national champion. I am very happy!"
