"Keep working, we still have a lot to do"

Rui Costa joined this Tuesday morning, July 12, the SL Benfica delegation in England. The President spoke to the media upon arrival at St. George's Park.

"We must keep working because the market is still open. The competitions start soon, we still have a lot to do", stressed the President of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

About the market, Rui Costa assumes that "the squad is not closed". Coach Roger Schmidt took 38 players to the training camp in England.

"The question of 38 players is a false question. In the 38 players there are five goalkeepers. The coach knows perfectly well what he is doing. If the coach brought youngsters that are destined, this year, to the B Team, and that complete this group of 38 players, it is a sign that we are not with 38 players because we don't know what to do with them. We have 38 players here because Roger Schmidt wanted to see the players he had at his disposal", explained the President.

Answering another question, which was about the SC Braga player Ricardo Horta, Rui Costa objected: "Benfica has a few more targets on the market. We are not going to keep 38 players. We know what we are doing, there are still players who will come and go, and regardless of the names, we have many targets and we are trying to do things in the best way possible, with discernment and awareness of what we want."
