The temporary exhibition " Unstoppable - The Successful Path of the Women's Football Team" was inaugurated this Friday, July 29, in the lobby of the Benfica Museum - Cosme Damião.

In the year in which the Sport Lisboa e Benfica women's football team became Two-time National Champions, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Cultural Heritage Department conceived an exhibition dedicated to the team's affirmation and success in the sportive and social perspectives, as well as its strong contribution to the dissemination and development of the sport in Portugal.

The exhibition, which opens its doors to fans on July 30, focuses on seven expressive moments of the Sport Lisboa e Benfica women's football team project

  • How it all began: a brief contextualization of the sport in the Club;

  • Kick-off - the 2018/19 season: in the debut season, victories and routs were a constant;

  • Interrupted season - the 2019/20 season: the impact of the pandemic on the sport;

  • Finally Champions! - the 2020/21 season: the team's debut in the Women's Champions League and an excellent domestic campaign, by becoming National Champions and winning the 2019/20 and 2020/21 League Cups;

  • Defending the national titleinternational feat - the 2021/22 season: defending the national title and qualifying for the group stage of the Women's Champions League;

  • Present and future: the players are a source of inspiration for the younger ones and contribute to the dissemination of the sport;

  • The players: mention the names of all the players who were part of the squads between the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons.

Accompanying the exhibition contents was a selection of pieces from Sport Lisboa e Benfica's collection. They were: Women's Portuguese Cup 2018/19; Women's Super Cup 2018/19Darlene's Jersey, away kit 2018/19; 2019/20 and 2020/21 Women's League Cups2020/21 and 2021/22 Women's National Championshipspennants from FC Bayern, Olympique Lyonnais, and BK Häckens, opponents in the group stage of the Women's Champions League 2021/22.
