Gilberto: "Happy for the goal, but the merit goes to the entire group"

Gilberto's shot, in the 55th minute of the game against Penafiel, broke the "duriense" wall and started Benfica's triumph (2-0) on matchday 2 of group C of the League Cup, this Saturday evening, November 26, at Estádio da Luz. "I am very happy, but the merit goes to the entire group, which worked hard and sought the victory from the beginning", analyzed the right-back.

"We always tried not to deviate from our characteristics, to press during the whole time and that's how we managed to score the first goal", explained Gilberto, in the flash interview. "We looked for the victory from the beginning and got the two goals", completed the defender.

The success in this match against Penafiel allowed the Benfica to extend to 27 matches the unbeaten streak that started in the first official match of the current season. Gilberto shared his reading about the collective path.

"We think game by game. We know it's a great merit of our team, but it happens because we think game by game, we try to keep our standard and go into every game focused, this is the only way we can achieve our goals", highlighted the defender.
