João Mário, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's midfielder, was voted MVP of the Liga Bwin 2022/23 in February. The Portuguese international collected 35.71% of the votes from the competition's head coaches.

The eagles' number 20 was a starter in the three games played (three wins) by the team in February, against Casa Pia (h), Boavista (h) and Vizela (a). He totaled 270 minutes of play, four goals and two assists.

João Mário was the most voted, and in 2nd position was the Benfica player Gonçalo Ramos, with 11.90% of the votes. Closing the podium, Fran Navarro (Gil Vicente) had 9.52% of the coaches' preferences.

Benfica's Portuguese international had already been voted Liga Bwin's best midfielder in February and December/January, as well as the League's MVP in December/January, when he succeeded Gonçalo Ramos, a striker distinguished in October/November.
