João Mário, Benfica's player, was elected the Best Midfielder of the Liga Bwin 2022/23 in March. The Portuguese international got 28.21% of the votes of the competition's head coaches.

A starter in the three matches played by the eagles in this period of the competition, João Mário scored three goals – one against Marítimo and two against Vitória SC – and provided an assist.

The most voted by the coaches, Benfica's midfielder João Mário beat Iván Jaime (Famalicão) and his teammate Chiquinho, who collected 12.82% and 11.11% of the preferences, respectively.

It is the third time in a row that João Mário wins this award.João Mário
