Benfica Teleperformance is FIFA23 National Champion

After the 38th National title won by Benfica in real football, the team led by Nuno Barateli became National Champion of virtual football for the first time by winning the 2022/23 edition of eLiga Portugal - the virtual version of the Portuguese Professional Football League where the 18 Limited Sports Companies Corporations that compete in Liga Portugal took part.

Rodrigo Marques and Diogo Gonçalves, better known in the eSports community as Rodr7gol and Diogo10FIFA, were the red players who formed the duo that competed immaculately in the final phase of the eLiga Portugal.

After a regular stage which earned the qualification for the final eight (Santa Clara, Braga, FC Porto, Rio Ave, Paços de Ferreira, Arouca and Estoril also took part), Benfica Teleperformance faced and beat Rio Ave in the quarterfinals with two wins and an aggregate score of 9-4.

In the semifinals, they locked horns with Braga and clinched two wins with an aggregate score of 3-1.

Benfica Teleperformance e o Santa Clara qualified for the grand final. After a first game won by the eagles only on penalties, Santa Clara won the second game and forced all decisions to be decided in a third and decisive game, the first that Benfica Teleperformance had to play in this final phase.

After 90 minutes with a 1-1 draw, the teams went into extra-time where Benfica Teleperformance was stronger and achieved a final score of 3-2, a result that won the first and long-awaited title of National Champion in the sport, and also guarantees two places in the play-ins for the FIFA23 World Championship.
