Benfica presents the "15x15" initiative in Mozambique

Last May, a Benfica International delegation was in Pemba, Mozambique, to present the "15x15" initiative. This contemplates the presence of coaches from the Club's youth football in the city with the mission of developing a competitive plan to identify and potentiate local talents.

Following a protocol signed in March, the red delegation formed by Davide Gomes and Miguel Reis presented the initiative at a press conference together with Florete Simba, Mayor of Pemba, and met with local representatives to mobilize all the community's efforts towards the project.

The "15x15" will aim to choose 15 male and 15 female athletes up to the age of 17 from the neighborhoods and districts of Pemba. The selection will be made from a universe of 120 youngsters distributed over four categories, who will be put to the test in training sessions at the recently inaugurated Pemba Municipal Stadium run by Benfica youth football coaches.

In the social component, Benfica also has planned to present a project that benefits the community in areas such as entrepreneurship, health, education, and sustainability, among others.

The Benfica International delegation then went to the capital Maputo, where they met with public and private entities before presenting the "15x15" initiative to Carlos Gilberto, Mozambique's Secretary of State for Sports.
