Lena Pauels is a new signing of Benfica's women's football team for 2023/24. The German goalkeeper, 25, signed a contract valid for two years and arrives at the Glorioso from Werder Bremen, the club she represented for the last seven seasons.

 

"I am very happy to be here and meet everyone. I will give my best to achieve our goals, which is to win as many trophies as possible", claimed the player in statements to BTV

"Benfica is a great club and Lisbon is a great city. We also have a chance to qualify for the Champions League, and to compete in this competition is every player's dream. Embracing this project was a very easy decision", she said.

Nurtured at KSV Kevelaer, the goalkeeper move to SGS Essen in 2014 and, two years later, she transferred to Werder Bremen. In the seven seasons at this team, Lena Pauels played 70 games, split between Bundesliga (33), II Bundesliga (26) and German Cup (11).
