Tiago Gouveia renews until 2028

Linked to the Club for six seasons, Tiago Gouveia, a 22-year-old winger, renewed his contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica. The new contract of the player, who made his debut for the first team on April 30, 2022, against Marítimo, is valid until 2028.

"It is a feeling of pride and responsibility to feel this bet from a club like Benfica. Now it's up to me to show my quality and help Benfica to achieve their goals", said the winger after signing the new contract with President Rui Costa.

Loaned to Estoril for the last season, 2022/23, Tiago Gouveia understands that the accumulated experience will be determinant for what follows, namely the collective goals that Benfica proposes to achieve. "It made me grow as a person and as a player, gain more experience at the highest level of Portuguese soccer. I came back, I came back better, and I want to use all this experience that I was able to accumulate to help Benfica", he stressed.

"About the [2023/24] season, the perspectives are very simple: arrive, give my best and try to affirm myself as a Benfica player. I know it will not be an easy task, but I believe I have the quality and the capacity to achieve it", he praised.

Tiago Gouveia, 22 years old, has represented Benfica since 2017/18 when he joined the U-17s. He then played for the U-19, Under-23 and B Team, until he made his debut with the Sacred Mantle of the First Team in 2021/22, on April 30, 2022, against Marítimo. On May 13, 2022, he was a starter for the first time in the trip to Paços de Ferreira, in the last game of the National Championship.

In the 2022/23 season, Tiago Gouveia was loaned to Estoril, where he played 30 matches, 29 in the Liga Bwin and one in the Portuguese Cup, scoring five goals in over 2400 minutes of play..

Tiago Gouveia has a history in the Portuguese youth national teams, totaling 31 caps and 10 goals between the U-15 and U-21 levels.
