It is a comeback: Benfica B will participate in the Premier League Internacional Cup 2023/24, prestigious international tournament of youth football.

In their seventh presence in the competition - competed consecutively between 2014/15 and 2019/20 -, the eagles will face Liverpool, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Everton in the group stage.

The event features 12 English clubs and 12 clubs from other European countries, divided into three groups of eight teams.

In the group stage, each European club only faces English opponents and vice versa, with all matches taking place in England.

The top two in each group and the two third-placed teams with the highest score will advance to the quarter-finals, with the entire knockout phase to be decided in just one game, using extra time and penalty shoot-outs if necessary.

The teams will consist of U23 athletes, except for a maximum of three field players and one goalkeeper.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
