Rui Costa, President of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, was elected as a member of the board of the European Club Association (ECA) for the 2023-2027 term on Thursday, September 7, during the work of the general assembly held in Berlin, Germany.

Through its president, Benfica is the only Portuguese club on the board of the ECA, headed by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of PSG. UEFA and FIFA officially recognize this body as the only independent representative of Football clubs at a European level.
