António Silva and João Neves are among the 25 finalists for the Golden Boy award presented by Italian newspaper Tuttosport, which honors the best Under-21 player in the world. Benfica is one of the four teams, alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern, with two players on the list announced on Thursday, October 12.

The central defender made the shortlist because he is currently 4th in a ranking of players that takes into account various statistical criteria: minutes played, coefficient of the leagues they play in, appearances in national teams and titles won.

The midfielder was one of five wildcards chosen by Tuttosport journalists to join the top 20 in the aforementioned ranking: the others were Arda Guler (Real Madrid), Bilal El Khannouss (Genk), Martin Baturina (Dinamo Zagreb) and Lamine Yamal (Barcelona).

The decision on the Golden Boy winner will now be in the hands of an international jury made up of 50 journalists from all over Europe and will be announced on December 4 in Turin.
