Fredrik Aursnes, a central midfielder for Benfica's professional football team, competed on Sunday for Norway in Glasgow against Scotland in the qualifying round for the 2024 European Championship.

Starter, Aursnes played 60 minutes in midfield for the Nordic national team, who drew 3-3 against the Scottish side on matchday 8 and final match of Group A.

Portugal's António Silva and João Neves were involved in the national team's work in the final two rounds of qualifying for the European Championship, but only the latter was involved in the match against Iceland (a 2-0 win for the Portuguese), in the closing game of Group J after 10 rounds. The young midfielder made his third international appearance.

Benfica's professional football team began preparations for their clash with Auckland City on Friday, June 20, at 12 noon (5:00 pm continental time) at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, on matchday 2 of Group C of the 2025 Club World Cup with a two 30-minute halves training match against FC Naples on Tuesday, June 17.
