Marie Alidou, a midfielder from Benfica's women's football team, was called up to the Canada national team that will take part in the Gold Cup, to be held between February 20 and March 10 in Houston, Texas, United States.

The Benfica player replaces Manchester United defender Jayde Riviere in Bev Priestman's 23-player squad list.

Canada is in Group C, where it will face Costa Rica, Paraguay and the winner of the preliminary round between El Salvador and Guatemala. It's from this match that they will face their first opponent in the competition, on February 22 at the Shell Energy Stadium.
