April is the month of the 16th António Leitão Benfica Race

The 16th edition of the António Leitão Benfica Race takes place on April 6 and 7, 2024, (Saturday and Sunday), starting near Estádio da Luz.

It's already a tradition at the Club, but also on the athletics scene and in national sport itself. The António Leitão Benfica Race - which pays homage to the former and now deceased Olympic athlete, a specialist in cross-country and middle-distance running - will be running its 16th edition in 2024. It will take place over a 10-kilometer course (with a gathering at 9 am and a start at 10 am on Sunday, April 7), with the start near Estádio da Luz and the finish at Centenarium Square, in the Cathedral.

On the same day (April 7), there will be a walk/Fun Run (5 kilometers), with the start scheduled for 11 am in the outer ring of the Estádio da Luz, next to Gate 23, and the finish at Centenarium Square.

This will be another tribute to António Leitão, who won bronze at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was the first Sport Lisboa e Benfica athlete to win an Olympic medal.

On April 6 (Saturday), the day before the main event, the Kids' Race will take place, starting at 10 am.

The general gathering for roll call before the race will take place at 9:45 am at Gate 17 of the Estádio da Luz.
