On Wednesday, May 8, the Lisbon City Council unanimously approved the awarding of Municipal Medals of Sports Merit to António Simões and Humberto Coelho, two outstanding figures in the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

Extolling the vast and rich list of honors of the two glories of the club, the municipality considers that António Simões and Humberto Coelho meet all the requirements to receive an award that honors natural or legal persons, national or foreign, whose actions have brought notable benefits to the city of Lisbon, improvement in the living conditions of its population, development or dissemination of its art, dissemination or deepening of its history, or others of notable importance that justify this recognition.

The Council of the Lisbon Municipal Medal had already given a favorable opinion on the award to António Simões and Humberto Coelho, and the final approval of the proposal - presented by president Carlos Moedas - by the executive of the Lisbon City Council confirmed the award of the medals. The ceremony has not yet been scheduled.
