António Silva and João Neves make their European debut

Double debut at Euro 2024! António Silva and João Neves, SL Benfica players, played a part in Portugal's 0-3 win over Kökcü's Turkey in the second round of Group F of the European Championship in Germany. With this result, the portuguese side secured 1st place and sealed their place in the knockout stages of the competition.

This Saturday afternoon, June 22, at Dortmund Stadium, the center-back and the midfielder came on in the 83rd and 88th minutes, respectively, adding up to their first minutes in this competition ever. The National Team's goals were scored by Bernardo Silva (21'), Samet Akaydin (own goal), in the 28th minute and Bruno Fernandes (56'). On the other side, Kökcü started for the Turkish national team and played the first 45 minutes of the match (he was replaced at the start of the second half).

Behind Portugal and Turkey, in the same group, are Czechia and Georgia, who drew 1-1 and picked up their first points. David Jurásek, a full-back on loan from Benfica to Hoffenheim for the second half of 2023/24, started the game, being substituted in the 81st minute.

In the next round, scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, at 8 pm, Portugal face Georgia and Turkey play Czechia.
