Already through to the quarter-finals of the 2024 Copa América, Argentina played its last match in Group A in the early hours of Sunday morning, June 30, with a 2-0 win over Peru. Otamendi, Benfica's, captain, led the Albiceleste's defense at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, USA, and Di María provided the assist for the first goal.

The defining moments of the Matchday 3 clash came in the second half and the Argentinian goals were scored by Lautaro Martínez (47' and 86'). While Otamendi played the full game, Di María was replaced in the 77th minute when Argentina made another substitution.

The next game for the Albiceleste – that won all three matches in the group stage – is scheduled for July 5 (2am in mainland Portugal).

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
