On Sunday, August 4, Benfica's Under-17 team won the Youngster Cup 2024 tournament, held in Germany this weekend. Rafael Quintas was voted Best Player.

In Group A, Benfica began their journey with a 0-1 win against FC Union Berlin - the organizers of the competition - with a goal from Anísio Cabral (2'). CR Flamengo followed and, with goals from Rafael Quintas (34'), Isaac Ferreira (40', pk) and Dylan Patel (41'), the Eagles won again, 0-3.

By beating FC Basel 3-1 - with goals from Anísio Cabral (10'), Gil Neves (12') and Isaac Ferreira (25') - Benfica finished the group stage in 1st place with nine points.

Youngster Cup 24

In the semi-finals, against Real Sociedad, Isaac Ferreira (1'), Anísio Cabral (6'), Tiago Rodrigues (16') and Nilson Semedo (25') scored the goals that sealed the 4-1 win and access to the final.

In the final game, again against CR Flamengo, Ricardo Fernandes (1'), Anísio Cabral (31'), Isaac Ferreira (36') and José Neto (38') gave Benfica a 4-1 victory.

Participation in this tournament marks the last competitive engagement for the young eagles before the start of the National Championship. On Saturday, August 10, at 11 am, the Reds host Sporting on Field No. 1 of the Benfica Campus.
