David Neres finishes his journey at Sport Lisboa e Benfica which started in the summer of 2022, moving to Napoli, Italy. National champion in the first season, represented the club in 83 matches until the moment to move on to a new professional stage.

Neres put on the Sacred Mantle for the first time as a Benfica player on June 20, 2022, when he was formally presented as a new SL Benfica player.

The Brazilian international made his official debut at the Estádio da Luz on August 2, 2022, when the eagles kicked off their European campaign for the 2022/23 season against Danish side Midtjylland in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League.

His first goal came in the next round, when the Eagles faced Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv at the Cathedral in the second leg of the Champions League play-off, on August 23, 2022.

In the 2022/23 season, Neres made 48 appearances in five different competitions, scoring 12 goals. En route to winning the club's 38th national championship under the coaching leadership of Roger Schmidt, he appeared in 31 matches and scored six goals, while on the way to the quarter-finals of the Champions League he appeared in 12 matches, scoring on four occasions. In the Portuguese Cup he played in three games, and in the League Cup he played in two, scoring one goal in each competition. That is a total of more than 2,900 minutes with the red jersey.

Neres

In the 2023/24 season, Neres' participation was reduced due to an injury. Even so, he made 35 appearances and scored five goals. The winger/forward played in 24 matches in the National Championship (five goals), six in the Europa League, three in the Champions League and two in the Portuguese Cup, totaling more than 1,800 minutes on the pitch.

Neres ends his time at Benfica with 83 appearances, 17 goals and 25 assists, and around 4,800 minutes of use.
